Exterior – House Wrap and Waterproofing

Below grade, I understand waterproofing membrane (peel and stick, or spray on rubber), and placing dimple boards are used, I also understand house wrap will water proof above grade. What I haven’t learned yet is the connection between the two. I need to find more information and understand the concept.
