What We Eat and Drink Matters

Until I became a teenager, I grew up in Korea. My father wanted to practice medicine near his hometown where there are lack of medical doctors. Instead of working at a hospital, he choose the public clinic where they pay one tense of salary. His excuse was to spend more time on research rather than spend all of his time with patiences.
Even though he was trained medical doctors based on modern science, he wanted to see if he can adapt or incorporate some of the traditional remedies. Especially on orthopedic, he thought it would benefit so much to his patience if acupressure or acupuncture. But sadly, mentioning traditional medicine among the medical society was taboo and he couldn’t actually apply his theories in his practice.
Since I was my father’s pet and he was my idol, I hang around him and learn the differences between the modern science and the traditional science.
If modern medicine is great treating the specific illnesses,
the traditional medicine is great to help our body to heal itself.
I learned the Aspirin came from the bark of willow tree, I began to wonder how on earth did people in the past find out about it. How on earth did they find out the roots of weed on my yard has chemical components that works as a anti-inflammation.

I worked most of my life as a journalist. I think my crazy personality with never ending curiosity and strong desire to find the answers were made by spending countless hours around my dad. That personality never brought wealth to my dad nor me, but my dad lived very healthy and passed away happy, without regrets. So, I think I will do the same. I just hope my son will not follow his old men.
